The Challenge

A mid-size food producer exporting olive oil and wine across Europe was losing deals because distributors and retailers demanded verifiable supply chain data. Paper-based certificates of origin were easy to forge, and the company had no way to prove cold chain compliance or organic certification to end consumers. They tried traditional SaaS traceability tools, but the data was stored in centralized databases that buyers did not trust. The client needed tamper-proof records that any stakeholder — distributors, retailers, consumers — could independently verify.

Our Solution

We built a hybrid on-chain/off-chain traceability platform. Critical checkpoints (harvest, processing, quality tests, shipping, delivery) are recorded as transactions on a private Polygon-based chain, with hashes anchored to Ethereum mainnet for immutability. IoT temperature sensors in shipping containers automatically push cold chain data to the system. Each product batch gets a unique QR code that consumers can scan to see the full journey — origin farm, harvest date, processing facility, lab results, and shipping conditions. The admin dashboard gives the operations team real-time visibility across all batches, with automated alerts for temperature violations or delayed checkpoints.

Results

Onboarded 12 supply chain partners (farms, processors, distributors) in the first 3 months

Reduced product authentication disputes by 85%

Consumer QR scans: 14,000+ in the first quarter

Won 3 new distribution contracts citing traceability as the deciding factor

"
"Our buyers used to take our word for it. Now they can verify everything themselves. We closed three new distribution deals in the first quarter because of the traceability system."
